Profile | The Instituto Politécnico de Coimbra is a higher education institution founded in 1979, and includes 6 Schools covering the various scientific areas, from Health to Education, Engineering, Economy and Agriculture and Environment. The School involved in the project is Escola Superior Agrária de Coimbra (ESAC). The ESAC is a high education public school in the domains of Agriculture, Forestry, Food and Environmental engineering, and has more than 100 staff members. It is one of the best-equipped schools in its field in Portugal, and has always played an important role, since its foundation in 1887, in research and extension support to the society of central Portugal. Being an important center of applied science and technology, it has also an important role on the scientific front, with its staff members being involved in research projects, funded both by the Portuguese Government and the European Commission. These projects concern environment, agriculture, forestry, and food processing. |
